For over 11 years, Tracy Anderson has been refining a technique called the Tracy Anderson Method to help countless women achieve toned and defined bodies. Tracy's overall mission is to strengthen the smaller muscle groups so that these muscles can pull in the larger muscles - which results in a lean figure that is not bulky giving every woman the tools she needs to look and feel her best!
Tracy’s Bio:
Tracy Anderson started dancing as a child, and at age 18 she traveled from her hometown in the Midwest to New York, determined to realize her life-long dream of becoming a professional dancer. After experiencing a considerable amount of weight gain, she began to experiment and create her own workout methods that led to a complete transformation of her own body. After 10 years of extensive research and using her own method to keep herself in shape, Tracy has designed several fitness systems - including bands, bars, and cubes. These systems challenge the small muscle groups by offering resistance as well as forcing the body to rely on its balance.
Tracy's list of celebrity clients includes Jennifer Aniston, Gwyneth Paltrow, Shakira, Courtney Cox and Kate Hudson. She is constantly developing new moves, routines, and techniques to ensure that her method stays fresh. Tracy has a studio in Los Angeles and New York City. Clients at both studios will have full access to Tracy's band, bar, and cube systems, as well as the HBR. She came to wellNEST our store in Sag Harbor to interview our very own Dr Richard Ash MD and this is what she had to say:
I have learned so much from Dr. Richard Ash, particularly from his personal health story and how that has helped him create his practice for diagnosis and treatment. Dr. Ash believes that we are so preoccupied with treating the symptoms of illness that we don’t focus on treating the causes; his healing philosophy is based on finding the true cause of toxicity. After hearing about Dr. Ash’s practice and philosophy, I had a true “ta-da moment”, much like I had so many years ago when I first started researching fitness and the body’s muscular structure.
Dr. Ash has opened my mind and research to a new world of body balance I have learned so much from him.
It is important to test your body’s pH level and always be aware of any level of acidity in your body, because this can lead to serious health problems. You can test your body’s alkalinity with standard pH strips and you will receive a score from 1-14. A score below 7 indicates that your body has levels of acidity and a score over 7 indicates that your body is alkaline (with a score of 7 being neutral).
It is important to have your body be alkaline but you don’t want the score to be too far above 7, and should aim to have your score around 7.5. High acid levels can weaken your immune system and be a conducive environment for disease and toxicity. Additionally, acidity can lead to premature aging, cardiovascular damage, osteoporosis, and chronic fatigue. There are some simple changes that you can make to neutralize the acid accumulation in your body and you will be amazed at how this can improve your quality of life.
A healthy diet should consist of 60% alkaline forming foods and 40% acid forming foods. However, if you already have high acidity and need to restore your alkaline level you should modify your diet to consist of 80% alkaline and 20% acid forming foods. Foods that are high alkaline foods are: kale, almonds, bananas, celery, lentils, nuts, and tomatoes. High acid forming foods include: meat, fish, poultry, eggs, grains, and legumes.
As always, foods to avoid, which can also increase your acid levels include: white flour, sugar, sodas, and artificial sweeteners. Water is a neutral and as with any dietary change, it is important to stay hydrated and to drink a lot of water. Exercise can also help maintain your alkaline level and remove toxicity from your body. If you would like to start with a comprehensive 3 level workout, I would recommend my Perfect Design Series which not only helps build long, lean muscles, but also offers a lot of variety in exercises with the different levels. It may seem like the answer for everything is “diet and exercise” but I want everyone to know that restoring and maintaining your body’s alkalinity will provide you with health benefits in all areas of your life. Please watch the video which shows the entire interview of two like minded people.
